BosMUN boston invitational model un

Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Friends,

It is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 8th Annual Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conference, hosted by Boston University! We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend BosMUN VIII, which will take place in the state of the art facilities of the historic Boston Park Plaza Hotel, the weekend of February 27, 2009 to March 1, 2009.

The Secretariat and staff are working diligently and passionately to provide new delegates and veterans alike with a substantive program that is unparalleled in its creativity and its accuracy. BosMUN always strives for excellence in its committees, and we hope to expand the quality across our conference as we continue to set the creative tone for the Model UN conference circuit. In dissecting world affairs and creating policies, BosMUN hopes to transform your students to future leaders and help them create unforgettable memories.

The excitement and energy with which the BosMUN VIII staff continues to work is palpable and certain to transfer to the delegates. I have been repeatedly impressed by the ingenuity displayed by my colleagues and cannot wait to see it reflected in the decisions and actions of our delegates. We have been researching, planning, and developing ideas and yet, with our unconventional and groundbreaking committees such as the Blackwater Corporation and the Loya Jirga, I am sure that there will be many exciting and valuable lessons to be learned for delegates.

In the spirit of the United Nations, we emphasize the growing importance of NGOs in the world today as we incorporate them into BosMUN with committees such as the NGO Forum, the WFP, and GCAP. We look to have representatives from NGOs available during the conference, to donate a percentage of our profits, and to fundraise for the NGOs that are best represented at BosMUN by our delegates.

For your stay in Boston, accommodations have been arranged with the Boston Park Plaza Hotel; an historic landmark of Boston, and a conference facility that is perfectly suited for BosMUN. The Park Plaza is walking distance from some of the greatest sites of Boston such as the Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail. It also has over thirty-five rooms that are adaptable for all the committees of BosMUN VIII.

The registration for the conference is now open. Regular registration for BosMUN VIII will run through October 15, 2008. We are looking forward to the upcoming year and working with all of you in preparing for BosMUN VIII! We will keep you updated throughout the year of our progress and inform you of any exciting new opportunities! If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at sg@bosmun.org. We look forward to working with you and we hope that you will join us to create policies, create memories and create leaders at BosMUN VIII.

Sincerely,

Manasi Raveendran
