JCC Beyond The Wall: West Berlin

Topic 1: A Divided Germany

Topic 2: Unrest In The West

My dear brother Fritzchen,

I hope you and mother are doing well. I still have yet to receive any letters from you, and I worry that my letters are being intercepted. I have heard rumors about the east side and the policy brutality and silence of speech. They tell us the western powers are doing everything they can to reunify Berlin and to eradicate the evil communist rule. Have you seen the American air lifts carrying supplies to East Berlin? I hope you’ve been getting them. I have faith the blockade will end soon. Please respond soon.

Sincerely,

Hanz

Michael Holtz - Chair

Michael Holtz is the Chair of the JCC: West Berlin committee. Born and raised in the small city of Midland, Michigan, Michael decided to attend Boston University on a complete whim—a decision he has had no regrets making. A current junior at BU, Michael majors in International Relations and minors in German. He joined the Boston University International Affairs Association as a sophomore with no prior experience in Model United Nations, but quickly fell in love with MUN after staffing his first conference. As Chair, the JCC: West Berlin committee will be the third crisis committee Michael has staffed, because crisis committees are easily the most fun committees at BosMUN. Aside from having a blast at BosMUN, Michael’s interests include binge watching Netflix series, taking Buzzfeed quizzes, and sleeping.

Vice Chair: Monika Nayak

Besides French, he's had some exposure to German, Mandarin, and Latin. He has been involved in Model UN since his freshman year. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, taking long walks outside, and doing origami.
