The Organization of Islamic Cooperation was created to safeguard the Muslim world to promote international peace. It is now one of the largest intergovernmental organizations governing over 1.6 billion people. This committee must resolve matters of non-state terrorism and human rights violations.
Topic: Counter Extremism
In this session of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation, delegates must address extremist networks, organizations and groups in order to change the narrative the groups portray have attempted to paint. It’s up to the members of the organization counter both the violence that these groups wreak, and the damage that they bring the the OIC’s reputation.
Topic: Human Rights
In modern times, religions across the world are taking a new approach. Be it through liberalization in Hinduism and Judaism or through gradual change in Islamic values due to changing times. Several Muslims are skeptical about the modernization of Islam in countries like India, Pakistan, Singapore and cities in the UAE. Delegates must find a way to bridge the gap between the changing values in Islam while still upholding the values of the Muslims who prefer to remain true to their traditions. Amongst it all, they must ensure that human rights are protected, that Islam is ‘aydt.
