Letter from the Secretary-general
Dear Advisors and Delegates,
My name is Christina Lucas and it is my pleasure to cordially invite your school to the sixteenth annual Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conference (BosMUN XVI), hosted by the Boston University International Affairs Association. BosMUN XVI will be held from February 10-12, 2017 at the Boston Park Plaza located in downtown Boston. Our conference hosts approximately 1,400 students from all over the country and around the world. Our main focus is the delegate experience; therefore, our staff is comprised of Boston University undergraduates who strive to impart their passion for diplomacy and debate on high school students. This year’s Secretariat is working hard to ensure this is the best BosMUN yet, we have increased the number of committees, introduced new innovative committee topics, and revamped delegate training sessions providing a more interactive experience for the delegates.
The goal of BosMUN XVI is to create an interactive learning environment where students have the opportunity to reason, debate, and collaborate with other high school delegates. By the end of the three-day simulation, our hope is that delegates feel accomplished in their efforts to propose solutions to international issues. BosMUN exposes our delegates to differing ideas and perspectives while challenging students to perceive the world in different ways. Our conference is comprised of 4 different types of committees: General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, Specialized, and Crisis.
This year the Secretariat is taking BosMUN to new heights and enhancing the quality of committees. Our committees this year include a specialized United Nations Security Council set in the year 2030, United Nations Special Session on Refugees, and our first ever AD Hoc Committee of the Secretary General. BosMUN prides itself on being a dynamic educational conference for all ranges of experience; therefore, at the beginning of the weekend we offer training sessions for different types of delegates.
On behalf of the entire BosMUN XVI Secretariat, I hope you will join us in participating in the sixteenth annual Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conference. Early registration has officially opened! As always, please do not hesitate to contact Christina Lucas, Secretary General, at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.
