taylor cowser, Secretary-General
Taylor Cowser is a senior at Boston University in the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences majoring in Human Physiology with a minor in Public Health on the pre-medical track. Taylor began Model UN her freshman year of high school, serving as her club’s captain for her senior year. She continued her MUN career upon arriving at BU, chairing the DISEC committee for BosMUN XVI. Taylor then served as the Under-Secretary General of General Assemblies for BosMUN XVII, the Director General for BosMUN XVIII, and now, the Secretary General of BosMUN XIX. Taylor enjoys spending her limited free time watching the Yankees, going to Trader Joe’s, working on her research, and updating her Google Calendar. Taylor is so incredibly grateful to all the staff, delegates, and advisors for their continued support of BosMUN, and is humbled to serve as this year’s Secretary General. She is so excited to watch the 19th installation of this incredible conference come to life!
Neha Iyer, Director-General
Neha Iyer is a senior majoring in Business Administration and concentrating in Marketing and Information Systems. Originally from Mumbai, India, Neha moved to Singapore, then Boston, and her family now lives in Manila, Philippines. Neha is actively involved in Model UN, and serves as the Executive Vice President of Boston University’s Student Government. Her goals for the future include working in marketing for a couple of years before going to graduate school for management. She picks up a new catchphrase every week, and if you spend any of your time around her, you’ll probably pick it up too. In her free time, Neha loves going on Sporcle and playing geography quizzes, updating her color-coded planner, or getting tea and coffee in cafes around the city.
stephany yipchoy, Conference Affairs Director
Stephany YipChoy is a sophomore at Boston University studying Economics and Computer Science, with a minor in Statistics. Her first exposure to ModelUN was competing in the Houston Area MUN Conference (HAMUN) her sophomore year of high school, and immediately fell in love with the thrill of trying to save a dying bloc. At BU, she has continued her MUN career by staffing BarMUN, traveling with BU's competition team, and now serving on the BosMUN secretariat. Outside of MUN, Stephany is a member of the Undergraduate Economics Association. She can also be found at the Boston Public Library serving tea (and making money!!), watching Criminal Minds, or talking someone's ear off about how Austin is the best city in the states. Stephany is extremely excited to work with the other members of the BosMUN secretariat to watch this conference be the best one yet!
Reid Mcconnaughey, Outreach Director
Reid McConnaughey is a sophomore at Boston University. He is double majoring in International Relations and Mass Communication. Between spending way too much time playing Super Smash Bros and making music, he likes to take relaxing bike rides around Boston. He is wonderfully excited to pour his heart into this year's BosMUN!
Abby Partnow, Operations Director
Abby Partnow is a born and raised Alaskan but is now deeply rooted in Boston. She transferred to Boston University in the fall of her sophomore year. Upon transferring to BU, she became an enthusiastic member of the BU International Affairs Association (BUIAA) where she became in touch with her passion for staffing MUN conferences, having staffed both BARMUN and BosMUN. Abby is an International Relations major with a concentration on Africa and the Middle East, incorporating the function of world systems.
In her spare time, you can find her at Fenway Park, cheering at the top of her lungs for her beloved Red Sox, sipping on a Thai iced tea in the park, or just eating lots of Thai food literally anywhere. She loves meeting new people and adores puns so please say hello to her during conference weekend, especially if you have a great pun.
She looks forward to serving as the BosMUN XIX Operations Director and making everyday MUNday and thus a fun-day!
Gabby Florio, Chief Informations Officer
Gabby is a senior studying Sociology with a minor in Political Science. She was born and raised in Johnston, Rhode Island, but since coming to Boston University, now considers Boston her home. Outside of her academics, Gabby serves as an active member of BU’s community service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, as a Student Manager at her job at BU’s Fitness and Recreation Center, and as a Program Manager for BU’s First-Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP). She’s passionate about education and social justice, and hopes to pursue a degree in Higher Education Administration as well as a Juris Doctor at the conclusion of her undergraduate education. In her (limited) free time, Gabby also can be found consuming an excessive amount of coffee, catching up on the latest memes, and challenging her friends to various GamePigeon games (she’s a champion at Crazy 8s). She’s excited to be a part of this years’ Secretariat to help make this the best BosMUN to date!
Branden Alberts, Under Secretary-General of General Assemblies
Branden Alberts is a sophomore pursuing an International Relations major in the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He plans to concentrate on Foreign Policy and Security Studies in Europe. Born and raised as an Angelino, Branden now serves as a Dean’s Ambassador to the Pardee School here in Boston. Branden started his MUN experience through the Boston University International Affairs Association (BUIAA) by staffing for BarMUN and BosMUN as well as competing on BU’s MUN Travel Team. When not thinking about MUN, he loves to use both his passports to explore new destinations and cultures. He can’t wait to meet the delegates and be a part of an amazing BosMUN XIX.
Jessie hsu, Under Secretary-General of ECOSOC
Jessie Hsu is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Biology with a specialization in Cell, Molecular, and Genetic Biology and minoring in philosophy. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, she now frequently wonders how she ever considered 50°F to be intolerably cold. She has been involved in Model UN since her freshman year of high school when she realized it was the perfect extracurricular for her love of public speaking and debate. In addition to serving as part of the Secretariat for BosMUN XIX, Jessie chairs BarMUN, BUIAA’s college level conference. On campus, she is also involved in the Symphonic Chorus. In her free time, she laments the books she has no motivation to read whilst watching Netflix and drinking an ungodly amount of tea. She is incredibly excited to be serving as a USG and looks forward to meeting all of the delegates at BosMUN!
Elena bernstein, Under Secretary-General of Specialized
Elena is a senior at Boston University studying International Relations and Political Science. She has been doing Model UN since freshman year of high school. When she came to BU, she immediately joined the Boston University International Affairs Association and has participated in BosMUN every year since. The first two BosMUNs she was a chair for two General Assemblies, and this past year she was a crisis director for a joint crisis committee. She is very excited for her last BosMUN as Under Secretary General of Specialized Committees.
Elena is originally from Rochester, New York, but came to Boston and BU because she wanted to live in a larger city and enjoy all that Boston has to offer. Outside of Model UN, she is an editor for a university department publication on campus (The Core Journal from Core Curriculum) and also works as a peer tutor and lab assistant. Elena is a New York bagel enthusiast, Game of Thrones fan, and she has a huge dog named Jackson.
jane gallagher, Under Secretary-General of Crisis
Jane Gallagher is a senior pursuing a degree in International Relations with a concentration in Middle East Foreign Policy. She is a Boston native and loves everything related the Boston Sports (she’s attended 9 parades!). Jane has staffed two BosMUNs and loved seeing her committees come to life. Within BUIAA she’s a member of the Model UN travel team and has competed in many conferences including NCSC at Georgetown and ChoMUN at UChicago. In her free time you can find Jane at any given event at the State House ranting about policy issues or finding the next free food event on campus. Jane is thrilled to be apart of such a great organization and can’t wait to get this MUN party started!
