Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conference, or BosMUN, is a three-day simulation of the United Nations hosted by Boston University for high school students. BosMUN XVIII will be held from Friday, February 8th to Sunday, February 10th, 2019, at the renowned Boston Marriott- Copley. The upcoming conference marks the eighteenth anniversary of BosMUN, and will be the largest BosMUN to date. This great achievement would not be possible without the Boston University International Affairs Association, as well as the staffers, delegates, and advisors of past and present.
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
Welcome to the Eighteenth Annual Boston Invitational Model United Nations Conferences! It brings me great joy to introduce myself as your Secretary General, and to welcome you to this year’s BosMUN, located at the Boston Marriott Copley and running from February 8th-10th, 2019. The entire Secretariat and I are already hard at work to ensure that this BosMUN meet the highest standards, and we cannot wait to welcome you all to our conference in February.
As a former leader of a high school Model UN team, the quality of our attendee’s experience is my absolute priority. As BosMUN continues to grow and expand into a new location, we have already begun to implement a series of slight alterations, based directly upon feedback from advisors, delegates, and staff following past conferences. It is our hope that this attention to detail and feedback will allow us to provide a high quality and personalized experience to each and every participant within our conference. We firmly believe that a conference of this scale serves to provide meaningful connections and opportunities for growth to all that come together to participate, and encourage delegates to take this opportunity to challenge themselves, on both an academic and a personal level.
We couldn’t be prouder of the committees that we are running this year. BosMUN XVIII hosts a vast array of regionally focused committees, from ASEAN to the Latin American Energy Organization, and everything in between. We have worked to place the focus on extremely relevant topics to our ever- modernizing world, with issues such as cybersecurity being discussed in this year’s NATO. Additionally, and in true BosMUN fashion, there is no shortage of creative committees- delegates are encouraged to test their imagination in the Avatar: the Last Airbender committee, or challenge themselves with our annual Ad Hoc committee of the Secretary General. No matter where delegates find their passions, BosMUN offers a vast array of committees that we expect will not only be incredibly rewarding and enjoyable, but will encourage delegates to pursue an in depth knowledge of current topics and the world around them.
This year’s staff and Secretariat are already working diligently to create what we’re sure will be the best BosMUN yet, and we look forward to enacting this dream come February. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns regarding the conference.
