Joseph Masterson
Secretary-General
Joseph Masterson (he/him) is a rising senior at Boston University, majoring in Political Science and International Relations. Joseph grew up in Norfolk, Virginia but has lived in Massachusetts for 10 years now, and has become a big fan of Boston sports. Since transferring to BU from the University of Connecticut, he has been deeply involved in international relations and Model UN, serving as a crisis director at BarMUN, becoming the Director of Training for MUN@BU, BU’s competitive MUN team, and of course, BosMUN. This is Joseph’s 5th and last ever BosMUN, and he will tell anyone who will listen about how he competed twice in high school. Last year he had the honor of serving as the Under-Secretary-General of General Assemblies, and he is so excited to step into the Secretary-General role. Outside of Model UN, you can find Joseph playing tabletop games with friends, exploring Boston using only public transportation, or in a pool somewhere. Joseph is beyond excited to deliver what he hopes will be the best BosMUN yet!

Eleez Omar
Director-General of External Affairs
Eleez Omar (she/her) is a rising senior at Boston University, double majoring in International Relations and History. Originally from the Maldives, Eleez grew up primarily in Sri Lanka and later Belgium before coming to Boston. She has been actively involved in Model UN throughout her time at BU. She previously served on Secretariat for BosMUN and has also staffed BarMUN, BU’s collegiate conference, and is excited to continue contributing to the conference this year. Outside of Model UN, Eleez is engaged in a wide range of activities across campus, including editorial work with several student publications, volunteer initiatives, and research in ecology and international affairs. She also works with refugee communities at the International Institute of New England, where she helps support newly arrived families as they resettle in the Boston area. Having spent much of her childhood near the ocean, Eleez enjoys diving, surfing, and anything that involves being on the water. She is very excited to serve as your Director-General of External Affairs and can't wait to make BosMUN XXVI the best BosMUN yet!

Laiba Zaib
Director-General of Internal Affairs
Laiba (she/her) is a junior studying Human Physiology with a minor in Public Health on the pre-med track. She is currently conducting research at Boston University’s School of Public Health while recruiting for healthcare consulting, combining her interests in health equity and organizational strategy. Her journey with Model UN began in the 8th grade and quickly became a defining part of her academic life. After serving as president of her high school Model UN team, she now continues her involvement at Boston University as a member of the BosMUN Secretariat. She previously served as Chief of Staff for BosMUN XXV and Chair of SIF for BosMUN XXIV. She now serves as Director General of Internal Affairs, where she continues to focus on staff operations. Outside the organized chaos of the Marriott Copley during conference weekend, Laiba can usually be found browsing Newbury Street, hunting for Boston’s best NY strip steak, or hanging out with fellow BUIAA members.

Vri Sobti
Director of Delegate Affairs
Vri Sobti (she/her) is a rising sophomore at Boston University majoring in Chemistry & Physics with a minor in Environmental Remote Sensing & GIS. She is originally from the town of Princeton in the great state of New Jersey. She has been involved in Model UN as a delegate since her freshman year of high school. At BU, she staffed BarMUN XVIII as a Crisis Staffer and BosMUN XXV as an Assistant Crisis Director. Outside of the world of Model UN, she is involved with campus Greek life, is the marketing director for the South Asian Student Association, a writer for The Daily Free Press, an editor for the scientific journal, SciBU, as well as a Dean’s Host for the College of Arts and Science. Vri is passionate about medicine and its intersectionality with women of color. Following her undergraduate studies she would like to pursue a career in oncology and immunology. In her free time, you will see Vri on Commonwealth Avenue sipping on her matcha, figure skating at Walter Brown Arena, or blasting Black Sabbath and the 1975. Vri is beyond excited to be on the secretariat for BosMUN and cannot wait to make its 26th iteration the best one yet!

Cooper McCreary
Director of Finance
Cooper McCreary (he/him/his) is a rising Junior at Boston University double majoring in International Relations and Business Administration at the BU Questrom School of Business. Though he grew up in the Bay Area, Cooper now legally resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cooper has been infatuated with Model UN since he joined his high school’s team during his Sophomore year of High School. His MUN journey has now culminated in him becoming the Head-Delegate of Boston University’s travel Model UN team. Outside MUN, Cooper competes in the triathlon and cricket clubs at Boston University. Cooper’s hobbies include traveling, watching TV, and cheering on Boston University hockey in the DogPound student section. On some occasions, Cooper even calls BU hockey games live on broadcast radio. Cooper is ecstatic to manage the finances of the 26th iteration of BosMUN.

Nathaniel Barrett
Director of Partnerships
Nathaniel Barrett (he/him/his) is a rising Junior studying International Relations and Spanish Language and Literature. As a native of Southern New Hampshire, Nathaniel is passionate about providing educational access and opportunities to high school students, having previously taught at Breakthrough Manchester for two consecutive summers. Nathaniel became involved with BosMUN as a transfer in his sophomore year where he chaired the African Union committee. Though he entered his first (and only) High School Model UN committee with a scheme to betray everyone, he left with friends after finding that negotiation was actually more conducive to success. He has since transitioned into competing on the Model Un College Circuit as a member of MUN@BU. Outside of MUN, he writes for Boston University's International Relations Review as a Print Writer and works on the executive board of BU’s Chapter of UNA-USA as an advocacy coordinator. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, learning other languages, running, and parkour. Nathaniel is thrilled to serve as BosMUN's Director of Partnerships!

Mya Khan
Director of Operations
Mya Khan (she/her) is a rising junior at the Pardee School of Global Studies, majoring in International Relations with a concentration in security and the MENA region, along with a minor in Event Management and Public Relations. A Massachusetts native, she is passionate about Boston sports, baking, and books. She hopes to pursue a career in law, focusing on private international law and risk management. At BU, she serves as an editor for the Middle East section of the International Relations Review, having previously worked as both a writer and editor for the Pre-Law Society’s current events column. She also works on campus at BU’s Fitness and Recreation Center, where she supports daily facility operations and campus athletics. With significant experience in event coordination, she is excited to serve as the Director of Operations and create a smooth conference experience for delegates. Outside of class and her inbox, she can be found searching for a good Caesar salad or watching the latest Celtics/Bruins game. As a former gymnast, she now enjoys staying active through Pilates, Bikram yoga, or walks through Back Bay.

Sofia Fernandez
Director of Media and Technology
Sofia Fernandez (she/her) is a rising sophomore at Boston University majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Public Policy. She calls Orlando, Florida home and deeply misses the weather during the Boston winters. Despite being a stem major, she joined got involved in BosMUN through the BU competitive Model UN team, of which she is an active member. She vice-chaired BosMUN XXV’s COP 30 committee and is excited to serve as Marketing Director for the Boston University International Affairs Association. When she’s not in a neuro lab, MUN meeting or locked in on Adobe Illustrator, Sofia is working with BU’s INSTEP organization, rowing, or doing the Turkey Trot. Sofia is over the moon to be a part of the secretariat and can’t wait to bring her vision for BosMUN to life!

Claudia VanBendegom
Chief of Staff
Claudia (she/her) is a sophomore pursuing International Relations with a minor in Italian Studies on the pre-law track. She transferred to BU after spending her freshman year studying abroad in England and Italy. Her journey with Model UN began Freshman year of high school and became a defining part of her high school experience. She was the vice-president of her high school Model UN team and now continues her MUN journey at BU as a member of the cut travel team, MUN@BU, and a part of the BosMUN Secretariat. She previously served as the Chair of the Milan Fashion Week Press Corps at BosMUN XXV. Outside of MUN, you can find her yapping about Formula 1, sidequesting around Boston, reading obsessively, travelling, and attending any concert she can.

Clara Flores
Under-Secretary-General of General Assemblies
Clara Flores (she/her) is a sophomore studying International Relations with a concentration in International Economics, Business, and Politics in Asia. Clara grew up in California’s Bay Area and sincerely misses the weather. Although she first started Model UN in college, Clara is actively involved in MUN@BU as a travel team member and Head Delegate, and served as Vice-Chair in the Legal Committee at BosMUN XXV. She is also involved in the International Relations Review as an associate editor for the Asia section and plays clarinet in the BU Concert Band. Outside of academics, Clara loves cooking dishes from every cuisine, listening to music, collecting trinkets, and taking long walks in beautiful places. MUN has become an incredibly valuable part of her college experience, and Clara is excited to serve as one of the USGs for BosMUN!

Daphne Hulquist
Under-Secretary-General of ECOSOC
Daphne Hulquist (she/her) is a freshman studying International Relations with an focus on International Business, Economics, and Politics in Latin America. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in California and started her Model UN journey in high school. At BU, Daphne is a member of the MUN@BU team and has staffed BarMUN, BU’s collegiate-level conference. When she’s not busy studying she can be found searching for caffeine, exploring a new part of the city, or getting a sweat treat with her friends. Daphne loves spending time outside, which often makes Boston difficult for her lifestyle, but in the summer she can be found at the beach and backpacking around Northern California. Model UN has been an incredible experience for Daphne throughout both high school and college, and she could not be more excited to serve as a USG at BosMUN this year!

Ezra Zhang
Under-Secretary-General of Specialized
Ezra Zhang (he/they) is a first-year student studying Political Science and History. They are originally from North Carolina, where they began their Model UN journey as a high school student. Since coming to BU, Ezra has joined MUN@BU, staffed BarMUN, and chaired at BosMUN XXV in the Pirate’s Code committee. Outside of Model UN, he is a theatrical technician, focusing on lighting design. They also like to cross-stitch, listen to 2000s rock, and attend hockey games (sometimes all at the same time). Ezra is thrilled to be your Under-Secretary General of Specialized Bodies and can't wait for an amazing BosMUN XXVI!

Sara Velez Patiño
Under-Secretary-General of Crisis
Sara Vélez Patiño (she/her) is a freshman at Boston University studying International Relations and Journalism, with a minor in Dance. Originally from Medellín, Colombia, she began competing in Model UN in fifth grade and has continued her involvement ever since. At BU, Sara is an active member of the MUN@BU travel team and BarMUN. Building on her previous experience as Assistant Crisis Director for The Camargo Commission at BosMUN XXV, she is thrilled to join Secretariat this year as the USG of Crisis. Beyond MUN, Sara is involved in BU’s Dance Theater Group and BU TV programs, including Good Morning BU and On That Point. In her free time, Sara can be found keeping up with the latest Formula 1 races, watching fashion shows, or reading Vogue. She is an avid reader of romance novels and a fan of cinema, especially Old Hollywood films. When she isn't studying or dancing, she enjoys going on solo adventures to explore the hidden gems of Boston, traveling, and striking up conversations with new people. Sara is honored to serve on the BosMUN Secretariat and looks forward to a fun and impactful conference.
