Our Conference
The Boston Model United Nations Conference (BosMUN), is a three-day high school-level simulation of the United Nations held annually on the first weekend of February. BosMUN is the premier training conference in the Northeast, aiming to teach students skills in public speaking, diplomacy, and problem-solving that they can apply to the real world. Our conference is an undergraduate-run organization based on the Boston University campus and was established in 2000.
Entering its 25th iteration, BosMUN will feature committees of all shapes, topics, and sizes to accommodate the over 2,300 delegates in attendance. We aim to create an all-inclusive, educational, and diverse atmosphere for every high school student attending our conference. At BosMUN, delegates have the chance to delve into the world of international affairs, public speaking, and diplomatic skills while utilizing creative freedom in their various committees through policy debate. Students assume the role of UN representatives and members of other international bodies and national cabinets to debate day-to-day issues that confront world leaders, and eventually draft resolutions in response.

Our Mission
At BosMUN, we believe that Model United Nations is more than a weekend of debate — it’s a platform for students to develop critical skills, grow into confident leaders, and find their voice in the global conversation. As a training conference, BosMUN is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for delegates of all experience levels. Whether you are stepping into your first committee room or returning as a seasoned delegate, our goal is to help you take meaningful steps forward as a speaker, thinker, and collaborator. Our mission is to make Model UN accessible, inclusive, and impactful for delegates of all experience levels.
Equally important to us is the strong, ongoing partnership we maintain with schools and advisors. Advisors are more than just chaperones — they are mentors, educators, and champions of their students’ success. We deeply value the trust that schools place in BosMUN each year, and we are committed to honoring that relationship with consistent communication, clear expectations, and support throughout the entire conference experience. Your feedback continues to shape how we grow and improve, and we view our connection with schools as a cornerstone of what makes BosMUN thrive.
Our Vision
BosMUN strives to unite young leaders from around the world in a shared commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and global engagement. We envision our conference as a space where students of all backgrounds can come together to explore complex international challenges, broaden their worldviews, and build lasting connections. Through inclusive and immersive Model UN programming, BosMUN fosters cross-cultural understanding and empowers students to recognize their potential as global citizens.
We believe that the future of international cooperation begins with education, empathy, and leadership. By bringing together passionate delegates from across regions, identities, and experiences, BosMUN aims to inspire the next generation of thinkers, diplomats, and changemakers. Our vision is to not only simulate global conversations, but to spark them — and to equip students with the confidence, skills, and community to carry those conversations far beyond committee.
The Boston University International Affairs Association
BosMUN would not be possible without the help from the Boston University students that staff our conference, specifically, the BUIAA community! BUIAA, also known as the Boston University International Affairs Association, is the largest student organization at BU. It is the parent institution for five student-led branches, encompassing a diverse group of students from all schools and colleges within Boston University. In addition to BosMUN, the other branches include a premier college-level Model UN conference in November named BarMUN, the fourth ranked Model UN travel team in the nation, a community service-centered group known as Students for the UN (SUN), and an International Affairs publication known as the International Relations Review (IRR). From the beginning, BUIAA and its branches have excelled in their fields by providing the best opportunities for participating undergraduates as well as outside stakeholders who appreciate the organization’s work.
