Overview

Let's think about fashion. What names appear? Gucci, Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani? How about places? Paris, London, New York, and the oldest shopping arcade in the world in the exquisite Milan, Italy. Twice annually, once for autumn and winter fashion and once for spring and summer fashion, models will dress to impress on the catwalk, while delegates will capture the beauty and elegance of Milan Fashion week. However, they must also deal with all of the twists and turns of the modern fashion world. From sustainability concerns, controversial design choices, and strong, impactful political statements on and off the runway, delegates will navigate the messy world of contemporary fashion, with one article at a time.

Topic: Milan Fashion Week 2026

The world of high fashion is an intricate tapestry of artistry, immense economic power, and cutthroat social politics. As the industry descends upon Milan for the 2026 season, delegates will find themselves at a critical crossroads where tradition meets disruption. Beyond the glamour of the front row and the prestige of the "Big Four" fashion weeks, the committee must grapple with the shifting sands of a modern landscape. The runway is no longer just a display of aesthetics; it is a battleground for sustainability in an era of fast-fashion fatigue, a platform for bold political activism, and a testing ground for digital innovation. Delegates will be tasked with balancing the creative soul of their heritage labels with the urgent demands of the 21st century—addressing ethical manufacturing, navigating the "cancel culture" of controversial designs, and maintaining Milan’s status as the global capital of luxury. In this high-stakes environment, one wrong stitch can unravel a brand’s legacy, while a single visionary choice can define the future of style.

Claudia VanBendegom - Chair

Claudia VanBendegom (she/her) is a sophomore at Boston University majoring in International Relations with a minor in Italian Studies. A transfer student with a truly global academic background, Claudia spent her freshman year studying abroad in London and Florence. Hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, Claudia has quickly made Boston her home. When she isn't prepping for conferences, she loves exploring the city, thrifting for unique finds, scrolling Pinterest for aesthetic inspiration, and going on "side quests" with her friends. She is also active in the Women in Law organization on campus. Claudia is passionate about making BosMUN as impactful as the conferences she attended in high school and is eager to see the creative strategies the Press Corps delegates will employ.
