Overview
Following the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance begins the process of forming a new government known as the New Republic. The Senate is made up of representatives elected by the citizens of worlds across the galaxy, bringing together different priorities, cultures, and political interests to the chamber. Each Senator must balance their personal ambitions with the needs of their constituents and the practical limits of governance. The Senate faces the challenge of establishing a system that is transparent, stable, and resistant to corruption. Together, delegates must design strong institutions and address the lingering threats that remain in the galaxy and build trust among diverse groups of people. This new government should be fair, democratic, and, most importantly, durable. This committee will use General Assembly procedure.
Topic: New Republic Senate, 4 ABY
The galaxy is at a turning point, as the New Republic begins to take shape. People across the galaxy are seeking stability, representation, and a voice in the emerging galactic order. In this committee, delegates face the challenge of building a functional, democratic government from the ground up. They must establish a fair and balanced system of representation, carefully navigate the tension between central authority and planetary sovereignty, and address ongoing security concerns in a still unstable galaxy. Delegates must also consider the durability of this new government. Preventing corruption, resisting authoritarian tendencies, and maintaining accountability will be essential to long-term success. Through negotiation, compromise, and strategic decision-making, delegates will shape the political, legal, and institutional foundations of a new era.
